🐰 Bmw G 650 Xchallenge Test
B MW’s short-lived but much loved G650 X-challenge is a bike just as capable travelling the world as it is welcoming in first time off-roader down their local trail. We checked out a fine example to see just why the BMW G-series classic has achieved such cult status in the adventure travel world. I’m baffled, frankly baffled.
screwed mine up too, got another bike from a friend. tried to insert metal rounded edge bar. Drilled 1/8" hole in both pieces then used 1/8" tungsten carbide burr bit, elongated to 1/4" vertically. Press fit broke off piece on shaft using a 1/8" bar with rounded ends into shaft by freezing it with dry ice.
I am 5'11" and 190 lbs. I have found some nice examples of modified XR's on the internet and, at ~278 lbs. dry, this is probably my first choice. However, the new bmw 650 XChallenge looks similar with a very nice motor and perhaps better suspension (and electric start) as compared to the Honda.
Model: 2009 BMW G 650 X Country. Engine/Motor: Water-cooled, single-cylinder 4-stroke, four valves, two overhead camshafts, dry sump lubrication. Horsepower: 39 KW (53 hp) at 7,000 rpm. Torque: 60
The standard under-seat tank takes 9.8 litres (2.5 gallons US). I'm sure you'll agree that this isn't much. Still I consistently got a range of around 220 km (135 miles) when touring with luggage. The extra tank ads 13 litres which gives a total of 23 litres which in turns brings me to 550 km (or 350 miles).
I'm hoping to get a 650X soon myself. The one I'm looking at doesn't have a skid plate. It doesn't look like the supply is available. I work in a custom fabrication shop and design sheet metal components.
Removing rear wheel Ease the brake caliper onto the brake disc. Place the motorcycle on a suit- able auxiliary stand. BMW Mo- torrad recommends the BMW Motorrad auxiliary stand. Install the auxiliary stand Remove screw 2 of the speed sensor and remove speed sensor 3 from the holder.
2007 BMW G 650 Xmoto Road Test. The sleek and modern profile of the Xmoto is particularly well executed. This X model from BMW is the one that sports the most aggressive styling and makes the least compromises. There's a contrasting red-and-grey scheme and the ultra-dynamic lines are directly derived from the superbiker world.
The 35.4-inch seat height also helps, though BMW offered an optional low seat at 34.6 inches. The engine on the Xmoto is a Rotax-designed liquid-cooled four-stroke 652cc DOHC single with a cylinder head that has two chain-driven overhead camshafts that control two intake and exhaust valves. The Austrian thumper churned out a claimed 53hp at 7
A look at the BMW XCountry vs. the BMW XChallenge skid plates. Attach loosely on the front then use a floor jack to help align the rear bolt holes. This is a look at the XChallenge plate and it's lack of coverage of the oil line. Also notice how the oil drain plug hangs below it, this has proven very vulnerable on other's XChallenges.
The G 650 X range’s single-cylinder engine. The engine in the new G 650 X range sets new standards in and specially adapted engine electronics ensure it offers sportsof power and 60 Nm of torque provide outstanding acceleration across the rev range, while a balance shaft keeps vibrations to a ignition facilitates cleaner, more effective
